Flocculant Addition

Mining activities typically generate a total suspended solids concentration in runoff which can enter water sources at erosion rates higher than “natural” erosion rates. When deemed necessary‚ the treatment of mine site runoff containing solids typically occurs in sedimentation ponds. In the sedimentation pond‚ flocculants are added to large settling pools in order to settle the solids out faster than would otherwise be accomplished naturally. Flocculants are usually found when suspended solids are the focus.

Multiple CIRCOR pump types can be used in this process‚ but the dominate types are two screw‚ progressing cavity and peristaltic.
